On April 24, 2017 the Program began the Greek language classes for primary and secondary education students. The classes aim at improving their school performance and strengthen their Greek language skills.
The classes are continuing through July, in 7 primary schools of the prefectures of Rodopi and Xanthi. At the same time, in the 1st Minority Primary School of Komotini is organized a Greek language sector for adult students.
Στο πλαίσιο των μαθημάτων γλώσσας το τμήμα Ε1 στο ΚΕΣΠΕΜ Ιάσμου, με τη δασκάλα του, τη Μελέκ Ιμάμ, επεξεργάστηκε διάφορα θέματα από το εκπαιδευτικό υλικό "Ο σεβντάς του σεντουκιού" και κατέληξε σε ένα μικρό περιοδικό. Τα παιδιά ενθουσιάστηκαν με τη διαδικασία, δούλεψαν ομαδικά και ατομικά και το αποτέλεσμα τα ικανοποίησε τόσο, που ζήτησαν να μπει το περιοδικό τους στη βιβλιοθήκη του ΚΕΣΠΕΜ για να το μοιραστούν και με τα άλλα τμήματα."
As of October 2012, there are four new cross-cultural workshops functioning at the KESPEMs, for three age groups – children, pre-adolescents, and adolescents – that use art as a tool for socio-cultural motivation. When they first started, there were 64 young people participating in these workshops, whereas today this action has been embraced by 120 young people in Xanthi, in Komotini, in Selero and in Evlalo. In each DENland, youngsters create a unique landscape.
Like every year, this year too, from May 31st to June 13th, the KESPEMs and the mobile KESPEMs organized with great success festivities to celebrate the end of the school year and the completion of the classes. The pupils presented the work they had done throughout the year, filling parents, teacher and the entire Project staff with a sense of accomplishment and optimism.
Summer classes began at the end of June, intended for primary-school and pre-school Minority children, and organized by the Project at the KESPEMs, the mobile KESPEMs and the primary schools. The classes aim strengthen their Greek language skills of the 1300 children who attend them.
The three-day symposium entitled “Innovative Practices in the Education of Minority Children in Thrace” organized by the Project on October 5-7 2012 in Komotini sent a message of optimism. The symposium, whose basic characteristics were large participation, liveliness, and creativity, became a forum for substantial dialogue and gave educators the opportunity to present, often in collaboration with their pupils, innovative pedagogical practices.
