One reason why Minority children did not perform well at school is that the textbooks and the analytical curricula used at minority schools were actually intended for children whose mother tongue is Greek. This used to create a large knowledge gap for Minority pupils and constituted an insurmountable difficulty for their teachers. One of the basic tasks of the Project for the Education of Muslim Children was tackling this problem through the production of:
- New textbooks and educational materials suitable for pupils whose mother tongue is NOT Greek;
- Supplementary educational materials, whose goal is to make the schools' job easier, and enhance Minority children's command and fluency in Greek;
- Training material for educators (teachers) aiming at introducing them to the principles and the logic of the new books, and enhancing their pedagogical skills in the tough environment of Minority education.
