The Greek Language classes that are organized at the Support Centers of the Project (the KESPEMs) and are offered to adult minority members are not intended for the acquisition of typical qualifications and they do not offer some sort of “certificate of attainment in Greek” to those who attend them. The minority adults who attend these classes acquire instead essential language and communication skills that will contribute to their effective personal empowerment and to their actual socialization. With this in mind, the educational material for teaching Greek to adults that was produced should not be considered a textbook or a teaching method in the strict sense of the term, but a collection of teaching suggestions or recommendations, organized in thematic units and structured in the form of educational scenarios that aim primarily at the development and the improvement of these adults’ language skills for everyday situations and communication needs.

The “educational scenarios” contain dialogues and original texts, suitable for the age and the language level of the adults who attend the classes. The “scenarios” also include fun and friendly activities that enhance the comprehension and production of spoken and written speech. These activities are supported by photographs and audiovisual materials (e.g., songs, fragments from films and TV series, weather reports, videos depicting scenes from everyday life, etc.) that are available online and can be downloaded for free. To serve the course attendees better, each educational scenario contains references to support materials that have been produced either by the Project (for example, grammar and language exercises, books for the courses of history, geography, the study of environment, civics for primary school children, etc.) or by other, similar projects, such as the project for “repatriated” and foreign pupils. The educational scenarios are intended for adults whose Greek is either at the beginner level (A1, A2) or at the intermediate level (B1, B2).
