One of the great difficulties that the “Project for the Education of Muslim Children” encountered when it was first launched, in 1997, was the absence of reliable and official data regarding such basic parameters of the Minority’s education, as, for instance, the school participation rate of this community’s children, the social characteristics of the pupil population, the magnitude of the dropout rate, etc. The research conducted within the framework of the Project aimed at gathering and presenting the data on Minority education, identifying the special facets of this issue, and detecting the trends over time. Emphasis was initially given on examining the (social, economic, cultural, and political) factors that influence the stance of the Minority toward the school and the schooling of Muslim pupils. The more recent studies focus on the significant changes in the education of Minority children that have taken place in the last decades.
