The 2002-04 Period

During the 2002-04 period, 164 Greek Language and Literature teachers were trained by the Project, in 24 training ‘meetings’ in the prefectures (counties) of Rhodope and Xanthi. The training addressed both more general issues regarding the teaching of Modern Greek Literature, and also specific ways to teach the then newly prepared and recommended educational materials (and the philosophy on which they are based). 

The new materials were used on a pilot basis by 26 teachers, 14 of whom worked in the Xanthi and 12 in the Rhodope prefectures. More specifically, the pilot application of the materials took place in the following secondary-education institutions: The Minority Secondary School of Komotini (Celal Bayar), the secondary school of Organi, the Islamic School (Medrese) of Komotini, the secondary school of Sapes, the Minority Secondary School of Xanthi (Muzaffer Salihoglu), The 1st, 4th, and 6th secondary schools of Xanthi, and the secondary schools of Polysitos, Thermes, Sminthi and Echinos.
