The new primary-school books are intended for the Greek-language portion of the curriculum in the Minority primary schools. More specifically, these books are for the Greek Language class, for History, for Geography, and for Civics. They are all based on the method of teaching Greek as a second language and on the interdisciplinary approach to knowledge. Since the school year 2000-2001, these books have been the official teaching material for the Minority schools in Thrace, and have been published by the governmental Organization for Publishing Educational Books (OEDB).
