The KESPEMs launched a new activity in the school year 2011-2012: Tutoring support for secondary and high school pupils in their Greek Language, Literature and Math courses. A secondary education teacher meets with children at KESPEMs on specific days and at specific hours (2-3 times a week), and in a two-hour session he/she helps them prepare for the school classes of the next day.

The teachers do not provide children with ready-made exercises. They try instead to give them the tools with which the children will try to handle the classes and meet the requirements by themselves. The goal is, in other words, in addition to supporting and preparing pupils for the next day at school, to also provide children with effective assistance and to enhance their process of “learning to learn”.

There was great interest and participation from secondary and high school pupils in this activity from the very beginning. In the school year 2011-12 tutorial support took place at the Central KESPEMs of Xanthi and Komotini and at the peripheral KESPEMs of Iasmos, Echinos, and Drosero. The tutorial classes for Mathematics were attended by 169 pupils in total, and the ones for Greek language and literature by 193 pupils in total.

The tutorial classes have enjoyed the same great appeal in the current school year (2012-13) as well. They are organized at the central KESPEMs of Xanthi and Komotini and at the peripheral KESPEMs of Iasmos and Selero. Tutorial classes also take place in the Ifestos township of the Rhodope prefecture as well. The classes there are organized and supervised by the central KESPEM of Komotini and run by volunteers from the Department of History and Ethnology of the Democritus Univ. of Thrace.

As of November 2012 the classes have been attended by 324 pupils.

The parents of the pupils have expressed their great satisfaction  with these classes in the meetings with teachers that take place at the KESPEMs.

In the 2013-2014 school year, the participation of students in the tutorial classes increased. Until March, they have been registered 635 students in the classes organized in the KESPEMs of Xanthi, Selero, Evlalo, Iasmos, Sapes. Considerable increase has been noticed also in the rate of school attendance.

In the 2014-2015 school year, the participation of students in the tutoring support is higher than any other year. The classes started at the beginning of October and they are taking place at the KESPEMs of Xanthi, Komotini, Selero, Evlalo, Iasmos and Sapes. They have been registered already 584 students (February 2015)

Preparatory Classes for Nationwide Entry Exams (2014-2015)
For one more year the Project supported the minority children's effort to secure a spot at Universities (AEI) and to technical educational institutes (TEI). During the school year 2014-2015 they were organized at the KESPEMs of Xanthi, Komotini and Iasmos preparatory classes for high school seniors who were going to take nationwide entry exams for higher education. The preparation included classes in the subjects of Greek Language, Ancient Greek, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
The exams were very successful for the children: 43 out of 68 students, that they were attending regularly the classes at the KESPEMs, managed to secure a spot in higher education.

During the school year 2015-2016 many students expressed their great interest for the tutorial classes at the KESPEMs. In particular, the classes started at the KESPEM of Evlalo at the beginning of October and at the KESPEMs of Xanthi, Komotini, Selero, Iasmos and Sapes at the beginning of November. They have been registered 568 students (December 2015)
