The objective of this guide (which is still being prepared) is to help the teachers of Minority Schools, by informing them of all the existing PEM-produced educational material and the ways to use them in class. It is intended for the courses taught in Greek, except the Greek Language courses. In other words, it is for the courses of History, Geography, Studying the Environment, and Civics. 


  1. Description 
  2. 1st part of the Guide includes:
    a. A comprehensive list of books and other educational material (only the titles) for pupils of Minority schools, categorized by grade – language class books, books for other courses, parallel or supplementary educational material, etc. (for example, Fairy Tales for the Teaching of the Greek Terminology for the Mathematics, History ‘Index Cards’ Greek-Turkish Dictionary, A Knight in the Castle of Letters, and A Knight in the Castle of Words); 
    b. Brief presentations of all the books and the educational material for the teacher (for instance, teacher’s guides to the language classes, the “Keys and Master-Keys” series, Guide to the Natural Sciences, and Interdisciplinary Approaches to Knowledge). 
  3. 2nd part is about the teaching methodology of books for the language classes. The methodology is not presented for each book separately, but as a whole, i.e. for all the books. The book introduces to the reader the concept of ‘interdisciplinarity’, the “project method”, experiential learning, the motivation/animation of groups, the ways to facilitate learning through the use of pictures, etc. This chapter of the guide is directly connected to the topics analyzed in the “Keys and Master-Keys” series. 
  4. 3rd part consists of fifteen units, one for each of the books prepared for classes other than the ones for the teaching of Greek language. Each unit includes: 

1. A brief presentation of the book’s basic goals and the themes it deals with. 
2. A detailed listing of the thematic units of the book. 
3. Cross-linkages: Links of the thematic units of the book with related thematic units from all the other (non-language and language) books. 
4. Proposed or recommended activities: Some indicative activities and ideas for the better use of each book in class. 
5. Proposed or recommended “projects”: Ideas for class projects that derive from the thematic units of each book and the ‘cross-linkages’ with other books. 

  1. 4th part includes examples of detailed project proposals that can emanate from the books examined in the third part. Each class project proposal is accompanied by a list of its goals, activities, expected results, a bibliography, etc.
