Since April 24, 2017 gradually started the classes, the Programme organizes for children in order to strengthen their Greek language skills and enhance their performance at school. The bureaucratic barriers prevented the early beginning of the classes. Despite the delay and apart of the fact that is the end of the school year, the response of the kids was great, since almost 600 students have been registered in the Greek language classes of the Program.
The classes are taking place in primary and secondary schools and they are attended by 660 students. In particular:
In 11 primary schools, 3 in the Prefecture of Rodopi and 8 in the Prefecture of Xanthi, have been organized Greek language classes in which they have been registered 495 students, among them 81 pupils of kindergarten. These classes are supported by printed and electronic educational materials and with educational approaches that aim at strengthen their Greek language skills, improve their self-image and their relationship with learning process and develop social and cooperative skills.
The Project is organizing compensatory classes at secondary and high schools, additional to the regular school schedule, in which the Ministry of Education has not organized a learning support program. In these classes they have been registered 165 students. It is important to give emphasis to the fact that these classes focus on the field of knowledge that the students have chosen and the educators are adjusting their classes to the educational needs of their pupils.
